Input format & examples

Solve equalities and filter solutions using inclusive conditions. Without an objective, <= and >= are conditions, not a request to minimize.

  • Write one equation per line, or separate statements with semicolons. A bare expression means expression = 0.
  • constant a=3, b=7 declares fixed inputs; e is a variable, #e is Euler’s number, and pi/#pi is the circle constant.
  • bound x=[0,10] is inclusive. int/binary/positive int/negative int/nonnegative int/nonpositive int restrict variable domains; pos/neg/nonneg/nonpos aliases work.
  • Functions include sin/cos/tan, asin/acos/atan, sinh/cosh/tanh, log/ln/log10, exp, sqrt, abs, cbrt, log1p, expm1, pow, atan2, min, max and hypot. Angles use radians.
  • Operators: + - * / ^ ** and parentheses. 2x means 2*x; xy is one variable. Division stays real for integers. /* ... */ and // comments are accepted. Strict <, > and chained comparisons are unsupported.

Simple example

Solve equalities and filter solutions using inclusive conditions. Without an objective, <= and >= are conditions, not a request to minimize.

x^2=4
x>=0

Complex example

Seven coupled equations with logarithms, trigonometric functions and explicit domains.

/* Seven unknowns: a nonlinear calibration system. All angles are radians. */
bound a=[0.1,4]
bound b=[0.1,4]
bound c=[0.1,4]
bound d=[0,10]
bound f=[-2,2]
bound g=[-4,4]
bound h=[0.1,10]
a+b+c+d+f+g+h=14
pow(a,2)+pow(b,2)+pow(c,2)+pow(f,2)+pow(g,2)=15
exp(f)+sin(a*#pi)+abs(g)=2
sqrt(d)+log(a)+max(b,c)=5
4*atan(a)+cosh(f)+pow(c,b)=#pi+10
atan2(f,g)+min(h,d)=#pi+4
log10(h*b)+c*d+pow(g,3)=12

Examples replace the editor only when you click Load. Changing services preserves your input and basic settings, and resets service-specific advanced options. The command form is optimizer.exe --MODE --file PATH; general equations need no mode flag. This page creates the temporary input file automatically.
